I joined and online Model/Photographer website called Model Mayhem and I found Iven on the site one afternoon while I was browsing. He had some photos in his portfolio and I couldn’t help but notice how chiseled he was. His jaw, brow and cheeks looked like they were carved from stone.

He had two shirtless photos to view and he looked to be pretty fit, so I sent him an email and asked if he would be interested in modeling for me. He wrote back a couple days later:
Hi Don,
I am happy to work with you. But, I saw your portfolio and read that you photograph mostly nudes and I just want to let you know that I’m not comfortable with that. I’ll do underwear shots but that’s as far as I’m willing to go. Let me know if you are still interested.

Well, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with Iven’s bashfulness, but I was captivated with this guy, so I agreed to only shoot him in underwear. He also mentioned that he had a shirt from Greece that he’d like to bring and I agreed to that, too.

I had been shooting on a white canvas for awhile, and I wanted to change things up a bit for Iven’s shoot. So, since he was already bringing a shirt to model, I decided to turn the entire bed into one big closet. On the day of the shoot, I hung almost every shirt I own on the canopy of the bed, borrowed a great old rustic mirror from Jeff, and stacked jeans & t-shirts all over the mattress to simulate the look of a closet. The set turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself!

Iven called to say that he was close and that he was on his “bike”. A few minutes later I heard the Motorcycle pull up to the house (not the bike I was anticipating). Iven (still clad in blue & white leather) walked in the house and introduced himself. I was floored. He was beautiful and had softer features than the photos I had seen on his portfolio.

He looked at the set and asked if he could “pump up a bit” before we started shooting and in no time he was down to his underwear and doing push-ups on the living room floor while Charlie sat on the couch next to him cheering him on.
After 20 minutes or so, he stood up and walked over to me at the computer and said “Is this ok?” displaying his abs and torso for approval. “Hell yeah”, I said… “Man, you’re stunning”. I think you’ll agree, too!

The shoot went great and Iven definitely knows what he’s doing. He has this “look” that he’s mastered. This subtle, squinty, sexy & seductive look that just drew me to focus on his eyes for almost every shot. But, the moment I’d focus anywhere else on him, I’d remember that his eyes are just one reason that he was here. He’s got it all.. Hair, eyes, chin, body – everything. All wrapped up with a sweet disposition and inquisitive nature, that made me want to chain him to the bed and keep him around for awhile longer. I didn’t go that far, but I thought about it!

I can’t say that I wish he didn’t lose the underwear, but I’m damn glad that I agreed to the shoot anyway. Who knows? Maybe he’ll decide that the bashfulness isn’t nearly as impressive as photos without his undies. Maybe he’s thinking about another shoot right now? We can dream, right?
